Overview of TIME Support Resources

This section provides a summary of the support resources related to the Digital Media Workshops taught in the Studio Foundation TIME classes.

The links on the sidebar on the right point to various related pages including the Technology Requirements page and the TIME Digital Media Workshops and Handouts page. If there’s a resource you’d like to see added to this (or any other) section of the site, please contact David Tames at 617.879.7298 or visit the SF Cage in South 306.

The Cage

The Cage Monitors working in the Studio Foundation Cage are your first tier of support and are able to help you with basic questions related to digital cameras, Photoshop, printing, sound recorders, video cameras, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. During busy times they may have to place priority on equipment check-out and check-in transactions, however, most of the time, especially during the evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, they are available to help you with basic questions. If you need more extensive help, consider Digital Media Zone or One-on-One Consultations.

Digital Media Zone

DIGITAL MEDIA ZONE is special open lab hours with an expert consultant in the house. This semester (Spring 2013) we’ll be running DIGITAL MEDIA ZONE as follows:

  • Tuesdays, 6:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. in South 305
  • Thursdays, 6:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. in South 305

This is a good time to come in to work on your TIME video assignments. Chris Newell, a Film/Video major, will be in the lab during Digital Media Zone to answer your questions and/or provide one-on-one tutoring.

One-on-One Consultations

Students who need extra help beyond visiting the cage or attending DIGITAL MEDIA ZONE are encouraged to schedule a One-on-One session with David Tames (Media Arts Studio Manager). These can be scheduled by calling David at 617 879 7298 (office) or 617 216 1096 (mobile).  Please keep in mind that One-on-One consultations must be scheduled in advance and are subject to availability.

Handouts

The TIME Digital Media Workshops and Handouts page provides links to handouts (PDF downloads) and links to sites with resources related to the TIME Digital Media Workshops, covering sound recording, video production, and video/audio editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. In addition, the Visual Language Handouts Page is where you’ll find handouts for topics covered in the Visual Language Digital Media Workshops like digital still camera usage, lighting, and Adobe Photoshop.

3rd floor Tower computer lab and 7th floor Tower editing lab

Students who need access to a lab on the weekends may also use the Computer Arts Center Labs on the 3rd floor of Tower as well as the Computer Arts Center Video Labs on the 7th floor of Tower (713 or 729, not to be confused with the Film/Video department lab on the same floor). Hours for the 3rd and 7th floor labs are posted on inside.massart.edu.
